This law firm brands itself as "Roberts Crossley Quality Solicitors." In my experience this is a gross misrepresentation of the its standards. I hired the company to handle a routine property sale. This was a registered freehold house with no corresponding purchase, and it should have been completely straightforward. After two months the firm had made almost no progress. Original documents had been lost, queries from the buyers' solicitors were still unanswered. Meanwhile they were advising me to take out expensive insurance for breach of covenants, when the covenants in question did not even apply to my house. By this stage the sale had been handled by several different junior clerks, who all appeared to be clueless. When I called to speak to the supervising partner, they refused to put me through. I finally wrote to say that unless the partner called me I would withdraw my instructions. A week later there was no reply — so I sacked the firm and took on the job myself. On receiving the file I discovered that virtually nothing had been done in the previous eight weeks. Acting in person I was able to deal with all outstanding matters within a few days and proceed to exchange of contracts — but for this I would have lost my buyer. I did receive a letter from Catherine Crossley apologising for the firm's poor performance. My advise to others would be to go elsewhere as this firm appears to be both complacent and incompetent.
