    Having neglected my garden for an inordinate length of time, I had actually become ashamed of the condition it was in. There were overgrown flower beds, unruly bushes and trees, unsightly and prickly brambles growing everywhere, and rooted sapling trees in all areas. To make matters worse, my neighbours, who all have Show gardens, were beginning to complain, and my defence that the state of my garden merely served to emphasise how magnificent their gardens were, was beginning to wear a bit thin.
