John Eastwood is a renowned Fine Art Photographer from Stockport who specialises in landscape photography of the North West UK including Cheshire, Derbyshire, Staffordshire Moorlands and the Isle of Man.
Seeking always the more imaginative perspective and avoiding the safe, established postcard cliches so often seen, John combines imagination with an indefinable sense or spirit of place with a fresh and individual eye.
John is the official photographer of All Saints' Church, Daresbury, Cheshire and exhibits across the region at Galleries, Commercial exhibitions and County/Country Shows. You may of seen his work on Christmas Cards. His limited edition fine art prints are widely collected and sought after.
"Images of the landscape have fascinated me from a young age. Not the stereotypical sweeping vistas of the rolling hills and plains, but the more subtle details that lie hidden within, waiting to be 'discovered' or 'found'.
Much of my available time is spent walking in, and exploring the landscapes of Cheshire, Derbyshire and the Staffordshire Moorlands; three very different and important inspirations for me.
None of my work is retouched in any way using digital techniques, I am not in any way critical of photographers who choose to adapt images, such work can be creative and beautiful, but it is simply not what I personally want to do. Such actions would remove what for me is a necessary element of 'picture'.
The concept of discovered or revealed images might seem a little ponderous, but the words convey something of what matters to me in photography. I do not set out to document the landscape but to catch something of what excites me about physically existing within the landscape, of being able to observe change in the texture of the landscape."
